玉皇阁是朝天寺侧殿的主体建筑，建于1987年，寺宇周遭高旷幽静，奇石嶙峋。殿内奉祀玉皇大帝，帝王威严，两边供奉的是文曲星、武曲星，玉皇阁延续闽南寺庙的建筑特色，屋脊高翘，金龙盘绕，凤凰欲飞，雕梁画栋，寺内外墙砖石浮雕，立体感强，窗梭镌花刻鸟，装饰巧妙华丽。寺前的青石柱蟠龙张牙舞爪，上面雕刻八仙形象，气势非凡，显示出帝王宫殿气魄。

JADE EMPEROR PAVILION

Jade Emperor pavilion was built in 1987.The temple is surrounded by spacious and quiet scenery and craggy rocks. The majestic Jade Emperor is worshipped in the hall, along with Wenquxing and Wuquxing on both sides. The architectural feature of the Jade Emperor pavilion is very typical in Southern Fujian. With the high roof, circling golden dragon and flying phoenix, the temple is magnificently decorated. The brick and stone relief on the inner and outer walls of the temple make it enjoyed clear stereo perception. The windows are decorated with flower and bird carvings which are ingenious and gorgeous. The blue stone column in front of the temple is carved with eight immortals, which shows the spirit of the imperial palace.
